What do Japanese guys generally think of half Japanese girls?
Q. I really like Japanese guys. But the Japanese girls are so SO pretty in Japan. I feel like I can't compete, I feel so small in Tokyo. I don't know how it is socially here. Like what are Japanese men's general opinion of half Japanese girls?

A. As long as you speak Japanese, it does not matter so much. The real matter is not race, but language. And if you are not too tall, too big, it's OK. >But the Japanese girls are so SO pretty in Japan It depends on each girl.

What japanese maple holds its best color in the summer without burning or fading?
Q. Japanese maples have a tendencie to fade in the summer and I want a red maple that will hold its color. Any suggestions?

A. Make sure you purchase a grafted tree - NOT a seedling. I like 'Bloodgood' as it has a very dark red foliage that retains its color even in summer heat. I will add that some trees are more red than others, even grafted trees. Try to purchase one in the summer that has been exposed to direct sunlight. You will get a chance to see how red the tree is. You can purchase it and plant it in the fall when the conditions are right for planting.

How Do I type Japanese characters in the midst of my English emails?
Q. I have a Japanese "tomodachi" and I am learning Japanese from her. We communicate in English and I do not know how to type in the Japanese characters whenever I want to express something in Japaneses. How do I do this?

A. For mac, go over to the language bar on your computer, click "open international." Click on "input menu" and check the boxes of the languages you want to use. For Japanese, click "Japanese" as well as the "hiragana," " katakana" and "kanji" boxes. When you want to write in Japanese, go back to the language bar at the top right of your screen, and click on "hiragana" or "katakana" depending on which one you want to use. For PC, go to Control Panel, select languages, click "add," select Japanese and click "ok." You just type in Roma-ji, and the hiragana shows up. For , type "nn." When you finish one word, hit the space bar to get the kanji if it has any, if it's not the right kanji, hit the space bar again. If that's still not the… [cont.]
