Asked by abozer_mehdi - Wed Nov 7 03:52:48 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. All pure bred Turkish Van Cats have two colors. One blue and one green. It's part of their genetic makeup and what makes them so desirable and expensive. FYI; To own a Van Cat you must sign a contract saying you will take extraordinary care of the animal. Vet visits must be met on time and the vet will notify the breeders if you are doing what you promised to do or not. You will undergo a battery of test to see if you are worthy of a Van Cat. These test can take several days to complete. No one ever gets a breeding animal. Those are strictly for licensed Van Cat breeders. Van Cats are amongst the most expensive cats on earth. Their numbers are small so until breeders can build up the population they will remain expensive. Answered by Thomas Watts - Wed Nov 7 04:52:02 2007 What are some pros and cons to learning Turkish? Q. Would learning Turkish be of any use to me in the future (I live in the US)? I want to use it for a career sometime later on in life, maybe a college professor of Turkish or a government translator. I already speak Spanish and German. I would also like to learn Danish and maybe Romanian, just to have a few more languages under my belt. Your approach to learning languages is quite 'foreign' to me! To me, a language is a means of communication, constantly evolving, the gateway to another culture. Simply learning it to improve job prospects seems set to be a hollow experience. You should only learn Turkish if you have sufficient interest in the country / culture, and the means to travel there regularly. Otherwise, you won't have the motivation to go often, as you will need to do to gain the level of fluency you aspire to. You'll be aware that Turkish is very different to the languages you already speak. It's agglutinative, and the sentence structure is very different. Personally, I do not see the sense in acquiring all these languages just to increase your portfolio.… [cont.] Answered by Sirin - Tue Jan 20 04:42:48 2009 Anyone could tell me the Turkish equivalent of the European knight?
Q. I`m curious what the the Turkish culture`s version of the knight is. Asked by booniedog85 - Sat Feb 9 17:01:30 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. First, we must clarify what a knight is, it's really just a commanding officer in a military unit. One who acts as a cavalry seargent and holds lands because of this rank would fall under the knighthood. Soevalye is the Turkish word for a knight. Of course under the Byzantine Empire, the Romans would have brought over their version of knighthood. Then the Ottomans come along and bring their version. There may have been different requirements as far as length of service, rules and regulations and such, but it's still all just a military position that honors one with holding land ownership (and better armor than the average soldier, usually).
