A city is a relatively large and permanent urban settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town within general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.

For example, an article of incorporation approved by the local state legislature distinguishes a city government from a town in Massachusetts. In the United Kingdom and parts of the Commonwealth of Nations, a city is traditionally a settlement with a royal charter. Historically, in Europe, a city was understood to be an urban settlement with a cathedral, hence the official status of St David's as a city in the United Kingdom despite its population of 1,797 in 2001.

Cities generally have advanced systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process. A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban sprawl, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers of employment. Once a city sprawls far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis.

What do you think about some cities forcing employees to cover their offensive tattoos?
Q. Some cities are forcing city employees to cover offensive tattoos or be fired. What do you think of this? Do you think removing or covering offensive piercings is next?

A. Any employer should have the right to tell people to conceal anything that could be offensive. They are paying you to be there. A job isn't a right, it's a privilege. The lesson is to think twice about what and where you get inked. Same goes for piercings. For those that fall back onto freedom of expression - Sure you have the right to get that tattoo of anything you want wherever you want, but an employer has the right to get rid of you for it or not hire you for it as well. Liz - If you have the right to express yourself with a tattoo, I believe you cited Free Speech, doesn't someoen that pays you to come in to work have the right to simply not have to pay you if they don't want them around? Don't they have the same freedoms? … [cont.]

How many cities have fallen because of Obamacare?
Q. We all know that many cities have fallen because of Obamacare, that roving gangs and death squads have completely taken over in these cities, that doctors are boarding up their offices and are preparing for shootouts with all those people who want free medical care and put them out of business, that insurance company CEOs have become gang leaders and muggers in order to make ends meet, etc. It's just that the liberal media isn't telling us how many cities have fallen, but we all know they have. FACT.
