When does east bound rush hour traffic start in the los angeles LA area in the afternoon?
Q. I'll be starting my trip from school to work from 2pm - 3pm, and I am hoping that I'll have enough time. Do you think I will? Do you know when rush hour starts in the afternoon in the LA area from west to east? Thanks!

A. Generally by 2:30pm the afternoon commute has begun. After 3:30pm, it's getting thick. But you should be all right heading out at 2:00. And after you're familiar with the route itself, your drive time will lessen too. Make a note to have an alternate route as well, for those unexpected heavy delays just to be on the safe side. I've been driving throughout Los Angeles since I got my first permit license (we're talking ancient history and it was a challenge way back then too), but haven't had any serious accidents, road rage, only 2 tickets (both for "no right turn on red"), carry Auto Club for roadside emergencies (it's a lifesaver and worth every cent) and never drink and drive or let a friend do it. Where do I start learning more about whole middle east conflict?
Q. I want to know more about all the problems of middle east. Right now, I have no idea what shiites, al qaeda, all those things are. It just seems like a big mess and I can't sort it out. But I really want to learn more about it because I think its important at this time. Where can I begin to learn more about middle east? Where can I start? Thanks.

A. Albert Hourani wrote a book called "A history of the Arab peoples" which is considered a classic history of the region. It's a pretty straightforward, easy to read book. If you read it you will begin to understand what the roots of the problems are. Even though one answerer wrote that the problems go back to the Crusades, in reality they go back even further than that! Karen Armstrong has also written a book called "Islam: A short history" that is good for those new to the subject. I recommend you start there and then see what your local library has in stock!

A. In Fl you will want to stop in St. Augustine it is the oldest city in the US and they really have some cool things to see here. The Castillo De San Marco is one of the oldest forts in the US and it is a site to see. The Alligator Farm has been here forever and it is really a cool place. They have a 20 foot croc named Maximo who is a site to see, he is huge words cannot describe it. There is the changing of the guard at the governor s house on Saturdays it is like stepping back into history. The Tavern De Gallo has sailors that sing shanties on the weekend all ages are welcomed and they are really cool. There is the very first Ripley s Believe it or not which is in his house.
