California's geography ranges from the Pacific coast to the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the east, to Mojave desert areas in the southeast and the Redwood–Douglas fir forests of the northwest. The center of the state is dominated by the Central Valley, one of the most productive agricultural areas in the world. California is the most geographically diverse state in the nation, and contains the highest (Mount Whitney) and lowest (Death Valley) points in the contiguous United States. Almost 40% of California is forested, a high amount for a relatively arid state. Beginning in the late 18th century, the area known as Alta California was colonized by the Spanish Empire, being part of the Viceroyalty of New Spain. In 1821, Mexico, including Alta California, became the First Mexican Empire, beginning as a monarchy, before shifting to a republic. In 1846 a group of American settlers in Sonoma declared the independence of a California Republic. As a result of the Mexican-American War, Mexico ceded California to the United States. It became the 31st state admitted to the union on September 9, 1850. In the 19th century, the California Gold Rush brought about dramatic social, economic, and demographic change in California, with a large influx of people and an economic boom that caused San Francisco to grow from a hamlet of tents to a world-renowned boomtown. Key developments in the early 20th century included the emergence of Los Angeles as center of the American entertainment industry, and the growth of a large, state-wide tourism sector. In addition to California's prosperous agricultural industry, other important contributors to the economy include aerospace, petroleum, and information technology. If California were a country, it would rank among the ten largest economies in the world, with a GDP similar to that of Italy. It would be the 35th most populous country. From Wikipedia under the

I only know these animals that hunt California Condors, but these animals only hunt California Condor Chicks. Although I have no idea how California Condors defend themselves. 1. Ravens break condor eggs when they can and eat them. 2. Golden eagles and coyotes watch for a chance to snatch condor chicks as the young birds explore their surroundings. Answered by critterman51 - Wed Apr 29 17:52:24 2009 In California what are the differences between a Real estate Broker and a Real Estate Agent? Q. I am aware of the educational differences (extra classes, seperate exam), but what are the job differences? What makes them so different that they get different licenses? And finally is there a big salary difference? I am in California and looking for info specific to here. Thank you in advance! Asked by bookdevotee - Tue Sep 11 20:23:06 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The broker is the person with the supervisory responsibility for the agents in the office. Agents work under the supervision of the broker. Most of the time you must have at least some experience as an agent before you can apply for a broker's license, although California will waive that for people that have a four-year degree from a regionally accredited college. Since very few real estate salespeople or brokers actually draw a salary, the second part of your question is difficult to answer. Brokers may (but don't always) get a percentage of the commission from each agent working under them. It depends on the contract that the agent has with the broker. I know several agents that are making far more than their brokers, although… [cont.] Answered by jbarelli - Tue Sep 11 21:49:49 2007 How is the weather in California during the month of June?
Q. Someone I know is visiting California in June and wants to change her plans because of California being gloomy and foggy the whole month of June. She thinks that the sun will only shine for 2 hours and the trip will be miserable. How true is this? She will be in the Los Angeles, Lancaster, areas She will be flying into LA and then visiting in Lancaster, Ventura, Oxnard, Moor Park areas. Asked by xsmom33 - Thu Apr 9 15:51:34 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Both will be hot, with Lancaster being in the Mojave desert even more so. Foggy? In LA it is smoggy almost all the time. She must be confusing the area with Spokane or Portland. It isn't gloomy, but fine for the beach. Lancaster is too far out from the wonderful traffic and shipyards in Long Beach and LA - 70 miles to have smog.
