Chinese Taipei is the designated name used by the Republic of China (ROC), commonly known as Taiwan, to participate in some international organizations and almost all sporting events, such as the Olympics and Asian Games. The international community commonly employs the term "Chinese Taipei" due to several considerations arising out of the complexities of the political status of Taiwan and cross-strait relations with the People's Republic of China (PRC).

A. "If he uses his Chinese connections will he get 10 days in administrative detention and fined 500 yuan fine like this Chinese tour guide?" Yes, that is a ridiculously low penalty for such a serious offense. He must have had mucho guanxi, probably with highly-placed government officials. Government officials are relatively immune from China's justice system. Harsh sentences are usually reserved for the poor, except for the rare instances in which the government must make examples of them, as happened to Zheng Xiaoyu.
