Q. How long does it take for pine trees to grow? Asked by Oh Great One - Tue May 22 15:11:57 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Growth in pines varies a lot. Looking at height growth, some pines growing at high elevations can grow only less than an inch/year. Some fast growing pine at low elevation and in warm climates can grow over 2 feet per year. If you can reach the top of the tree, and want to check the growth in the last few years, you can measure a tree annual growth by measuring the distance between terminal bud scale scars, or nodes (it leaves a little circular scar on the stem). The area between two nodes is known as an internode. It's different from the distance between branches because a tree can produce more than one branch in a year.
