Q. I know we all get 23 set of chromosomes from each parent and they are made up of DNA. 22 of those pairs have our Autosomal DNA. I have found that we don't get our Autosomal DNA 50-50 from both parents and it can vary among siblings. Since I know I come out of a phethora of ancestry all over Europe, I was interested in getting a picture of my Autosomal DNA. Mitochondrial and even if I was male Y would be a very teeny weeny part of my ancestry. I had the Autosomal test done. Your father's sperm contributes the other set of 22 autosomes, and another sex chromosome (either an X or a Y). Where the 50-50 part breaks down is when you pass on your DNA to your children. Each of your children will get half their DNA from you, but they won't necessarily get an equal mix of what you inherited from your parents.
