Q. I am doing a six sigma project at work, and I need to verify exit water pressure. The water exits two acrylic nozzles (.250" in diameter), and I would like to find some type of gauge that will measure the exit water pressure. To calculate it mathematically would be to difficult. The number of variables that would need to be measured would be to large. However, I have the hypothetical gauge in my mind that has a wheel of some sort that when placed into a water path will spin and tell what the exit water pressure/speed/force etc. Need some help with this. Asked by savmitch1 - Wed Oct 3 15:25:26 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Since you are dealing with water, which is non-compressible, exit water pressure is equal to the pressure of the container it exits to. If it is exiting out to atmosphere, the exit water pressure is atmospheric. If you want to find the pressure of the water before the nozzle(s), fit on a pressure gauge in your line. That shouldn't be too hard. Just find out the source pressure (tap water? approx. 25-40 psi I think) and drop a few pounds due to line losses. You don't have to put a gauge in the water path, as pressure acts on all surfaces equally. If you do a finite element analysis of the piping to the nozzle, it'll become apparent. A gauge near the nozzles should be adequate for your application. Answered by Kevin - Wed Oct 3 15:41:17 2007 How would you disguise an extra exit door in a bedroom? Q. My building is old so there's a door in my bedroom, as an extra exit, originally, put in case of a fire. *Edit: The door is on the furthermost left side of one wall. P.S. great answers especially the fully covered wall. Asked by tcbrymn - Sat Feb 14 20:18:40 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments A. I had a similar problem about 40 years ago. I had a door that opened onto an airing porch, with a window on each side of it. They pretty much took up the whole wall. I bought some fabric that I liked and ran a curtain rod from one wall to the other, then hung the fabric on it. The windows faced the street, and I didn't ever need to open the curtains. It was quite grand, actually, that big expanse of curtains. I didn't even bother with side seams, just top rod pockets and bottom hems. Answered by Gizmo - Sat Feb 14 21:19:23 2009 What is the best way to enter and exit Bolivia from Chile, without flying?
Q. I understand you can pay unofficial "fees", at least to enter. How much would this be, and how would it work to exit? I would probably take a bus from the North of Chile. Thanks for any info! You don't say what you intend to do in Bolivia, or how long you're staying. If you're only thinking about visiting the southwest (Uyuni and the Altiplano) then just take a roundtrip tour with Colque Tours in San Pedro - it's about 4 days and it's the most amazing trip you'll ever do in your life. Cold, hard, and at high altitudes but sooo worth it! If you're staying longer in Bolivia, go in with the same tour, just one day shorter, from San Pedro ending it in Uyuni, do your travelling around and take the bus back into Chile from La Paz to Arica - it's quicker.
