Any languages courses in Faroese? Either in English, French or Norwegian/Danish?
Q. I'd realy like to learn faroese, but I can't seem to find many learning materials. Best regards

A. try this new textbook. It looks good to me! Or the classical Faroese text: Lockwood, W. B. An Introduction to Modern Faroese. Koebenhavn: Munksgaard. 1964. Or try the University of Washington in Seattle. They **used** to teach Faroese, anyway.

A. If you search in google with these words learn speak faroese you will get several sites as a result. I selected on to look at and it seems like it would be good to get you started. It even has the pronunciation. You can also look on these sites: where you can possibly find someone who speak faroese and who can help you with your translation needs. An even better possibility is Skype. You also can download skype (free) at So what is the point of using skype? I did a quick look for you (I use skype all the time for Italian) by doing a search for people anywhere in the world who have a skype ID and who speak faroese. A. According to the 'law of the sea' a country own the sea 200 nautical miles from their shore line. ( ) If the continental shelf, that is the elevated seabed of the continent ( ) extends for more than 200 nautical miles from the shore it is sometimes possible for a country to claim more of the sea bed (and the sea above) as their own. In the case of your quote the Faroe Islands/Denmark claim to own part of the sea bed/sea which extends further out than 200 nautical miles, and UK and Ireland say they are mistaken. The part "because anticipated offshore hydrocarbon resources have not been realized, earlier Faroese proposals for full independence have been deferred" makes the least sense to me.
