How do I list my consulting work on a resume?
Q. I've been working as a IT consultant for the last ten years, helping both large and small businesses to streamline their help desk operations. I've made the decision to re-enter the workforce because of increased competition and I am unsure how to list my consulting services on my resume. Some of the larger corporations that I've consulted for required me to fill out a confidentiality agreement with them which bars me from discussing any work I did for them along with listing them on a resume. Some of the smaller firms that I had done work for are now out of business. So my list of 100+ clients shrinks to about 30. While I feel that is still a strong number, I'd like to be able to represent the larger businesses that I did work for? Any… [cont.]

A. Generally if you work as a consultant for a period of time that is listed as an occupation on your resume in the same format as any other previous jobs you might have had. For example, in MS Word you can use the Resume template to create a resume, and just like there are ~4 sample jobs, one of those would be your consulting work. If this work took up a large amount of time in your life or is something you really want to elaborate on -do it! A tactic I would suggest (as someone who hires people, in IT as well) would be put bullet points about the type of work you did, major accomplishments, or maybe facts about the major companies you worked for that dont directly give it away. How do I list internships and freelance jobs on a resume?
Q. My work history is kind of scattered,and I am not sure how to put it on a resume. I've been working as a freelance photographer for 3 years, had 3 internships prior to that, and was a photo editor before I began interning. Should I list the internships separately, or should I put everything under "experience" and list the positions as "intern"? Thank you!

A. I suggest you start by prioritizing your skills and experience - taking into account what will matter most to the employer you're targeting. Put your most compelling attributes in a 'skills summary' section at the top of your resume. Then decide whether you will present yourself best by placing your experience in categories or in a job-by-job list. It doesn't sound as if your experience is all that diverse - it all seems to relate to the photographic field! So you could present your experience in a reverse chronological manner. But even if you choose the so-called 'functional resume' approach, you can still list your work history underneath the categories of skills. Where can I find a list of social/cultural differences among people?
Q. I am teaching a business communications class at the high school level and the students are learning about different cultures and how everyone can communicate effectively. I want to find a list of societal differences in different cultures. I have been searching Google, but I can't find anything that I want. I'm looking for a short list of interesting facts. As an example, Americans generally shake hands when meeting someone for the first time. In France, it is customary to give a kiss on the cheek. If the examples are funny it would be great, but not necessary.
