North American cuisine is a term used for foods native to or popular in countries of North America, as with Canadian cuisine, Cuisine of the United States, and Cuisine of Mexico. North American cuisines display influence from many international cuisines, including Native American cuisine, Jewish cuisine, Asian cuisine, and especially European cuisine. As a broad, geo-culinary term, North American cuisine also includes central American and Caribbean cuisines. These regions are part of North America, so these regional cuisines also fall within the penumbra of North American cookery. The term "regional" is somewhat ambiguous, however, since the cusine of Puerto Rico can differ markedly from Cuban cuisine; Mexican cuisine spills across the border into the Tex-Mex and Mexi-Cali "sub-cuisines"; and the cuisines of Michigan and Ontario have more in common with each other than either has with the cuisines of Manitoba or Iowa. Q. I know the vast majority of Italian-Americans trace their roots anywhere from Naples southward to Sicily. My question is, when we think of thick, hearty, spicy red sauces like the ones we would see in the kitchens of Chicago or New York, or the hot Italian Sausages, or the nice cheese filled raviolis, what particular area of Southern Italy or Sicily would we see similar foods like thi on a restaurant's menu. I know you don't see anything like it in Rome or further north. Asked by Rita K - Sun May 25 12:52:29 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. That's a tough question... Well, the point is that Italian-American food is more American than Italian. Some Italian Americans brought traditions that we (in Italy) kind of lost, while some adapted Italian cuisine to American tastes. Southern Italy cuisine tends to be more spicy, but ravioli are typical of northern cuisine (Emilia Romagna). Answered by Teppista - Sun May 25 13:31:57 2008 Question to Americans who live in the deep south and the north? Q. I live in TX: Texas has a strong Tejano/Mexican influence and alot of our slang, food, and cuisine is Tex-Mex. We have Taco bells, Taco Bueno, Taco cabanas and Mexican resturants everywhere. My question is: do you guys have Mexican resturants, fast food, and Mexican grocery stores in the other parts of the U.S, In the South, the North east, the North, Midwest?? Down here in Texas its almost like little Mexico. Asked by Teenage Guru - Thu Apr 3 18:30:57 2008 - - 14 Answers - 0 Comments A. I'm in the north east. We have plenty of taco-bells and a few good Mexican restaurants sprinkled around. In certain neighborhoods, there are "spanish" grocery stores, but they're more like a mom and pop type store than a chain. The spanish speaking people here are mostly from Puerto Rico. The stores seem like a regular little grocery, but seem like they have a lot of Goya brand and those little bananas (plantains?) I like to get spices there sometimes because they have a good selection and the price is better than at the chain. I live in a predominately white area with other races at a definite minority. Different neighborhoods have more black people, asians, and hispanic, but they seem to be separated by race. In the asian neighborhood,… [cont.] Answered by chuckyoufarley - Thu Apr 3 18:49:46 2008 European Union (europe) vs USA(north america)?
