Where can I find primary source documents about Philip II of Spain?
Q. I need a primary source document to prove he was an absolute ruler. But I can't seem to find them anywhere! I only need to quote it once or twice, and provide the name of the author, but I'm struggling to find one on the internet. Help would be tremendously appreciated.

King Philip II after Battle of Chaeronea?
Q. I'm trying to find out what King Philip II titled himself as, after the Battle of Chaeronea.

A. I could not find a reference to a specific title, but at the side of the battle a lion was erected in honor of the victorious king. But he did not crowned himself king of greece or anything like that he just forged a political alliance- Corinthian League - and demanded heavy tributes from the greek city states. They also had no power to challange him for dominance in the Corinthian League. Also in the oath that memebers of the legue had to swear Philip is simply refered to Philp and not Philip something.

A. Varying depending on which historian you listen to. Agreed consensus is that much has to do with international tensions and so forth, and among all that is the fact that there was protestant vs catholic tensions underlying too. The big thing was English support of the Netherlands in a bid to detract from Spanish dominance on the continent. Whilst initially covert (Yet not totally hidden - Read up on the Spanish ambassador at the time), eventually England had to back rebel groups fully in order to prevent their destruction... Leading to the Armada. Add in slave merchants like John Hawkins, who traded slaves from West Africa to the Carribean first in 1562, which was a bid to break a Spanish monopoly. This act was repeated again in 1564.… [cont.]
