Should I be embarrassed for having plastic surgery?
Q. I am planning to get plastic surgery on my face and I am a bit worried that people might judge me differently when they find out that I had some plastic surgery done to my face. I plan to get a nose job along with eyelifts. Do you think I should keep it a secret and not tell anyone unless they bluntly ask? Or do I just let it be and freely tell all who wish to know. I don't look all that bad but I can be better and it's something I just want or need in life. Anyways, to all who had plastic surgery done, do you tell others about your operation or do you keep them in the dark? To people who never need to have plastic surgery, how do you view other who had undergo such surgery. Please be insightful. I am really in need of some feedback.… [cont.]

A. There is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about. I don't think it's necessary to go around broadcasting it to people who don't ask, howver if someone comments about how great you look and asks what's up, simply smile and tell them what's up. Nothing at all wrong with that. If you try to keep it a secret, it appears that there's something wrong with what you did. (There is not anything wrong with what you did.) I have never had plastic surgery, but to those who feel they need it (for whatever reason), I say, go for it. ...rock on, Mama!

Is it possible to get plastic surgery done without anyone knowing?
Q. I'd like to have some plastic surgery done on a problem area that has always bugged me, but I don't want anyone, to know about it. Is it possible to slip in and out of the operating room without friends and family knowing? And the doctor has to keep it completely confidential, right? According to the internet, having this procedure done, I will be able to be back at work in a couple of days. Also, any tips on finding a great plastic surgeon? A taxi cab or something. It's my body, I have a right to keep it to myself, IMO.

A. I think it depends on how much you see your family and friends. If it would be unusual for you to 'disappear' for a few days while you healed up, then it may be harder to keep it a secret. However, if you could stay home and that would be normal, then I bet it would be easy. If you are not a minor (i.e. over 18), then the doctor does have to keep it confidential, as long as there are no medical complications (and that's rare). However, I'm never that 'for' anyone hiding things from their family and friends. If it's something you would be really ashamed to have them know about, then perhaps you should rethink this.
